Özyeğin University Named Best Foundation University in "GreenMetric Rankings" For the Fifth Consecutive Time

Özyeğin University placed first among foundation universities in Türkiye for the fifth consecutive time since 2019 in the 2023 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, which assess universities all over the world based on their sustainability initiatives and the extent of green spaces within their campuses. Out of 1,050 universities included in this year’s rankings worldwide, our University earned the distinction of being the world’s 89th most sustainable university in the overall rankings.

Launched in 2010, the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings rank universities by their commitment and action towards going green and environmental sustainability across 39 indicators and 6 criteria, including Setting and Infrastructure (SI), Energy and Climate Change (EC), Waste (WS), Water (WR), Transportation (TR), and Education (ED). Each higher education institution is scored separately for each category, and ranked globally. The rankings are open to all higher education institutions worldwide. In 2023, a total of 1,050 universities from 85 countries participated in the rankings, with 98 universities from Türkiye. Özyeğin University secured 89th place among 1,050 universities across the world, marking its distinction as the youngest foundation university in Türkiye to break into the prestigious top 100 in this ranking.
